Young Teachers Go Wild!

I couldn't help but post this article from the Washington Post yesterday. After reading it, I immediately went on facebook and readjusted all my privacy settings. (I know, I know, the title makes it sound like its going to be nsfw, I assure you it's entirely G rated.)

"When Young Teachers Go Wild on the Web"

I can't imagine how exciting it would have been in high school be browsing the internet and find my teacher's profile on something like myspace or facebook (or her blog, for that matter... hmmm). I'd immediately show it to all my friends, and then probably print out the best parts and pass those around class. Another reason to teach elementary school rather than high school.

Although only my facebook "friends" can see my profile and pictures, I think its time to take down some of those homecoming weekend pictures from college...

Transition

I'm really excited to have been accepted to UPenn for a MS Ed in Elementary Education, and I've sent in my acceptance letter and deposit. Now I'm in the process of wrapping my my life and job here in DC to move to Philadelphia to start a new adventure!

I move in on July 10th and class starts officially on the 14th. I'm really excited, and I know this is going to be an incredible experience, I just feel a little anxious about who I'm going to be living with, what I'm going to be doing, how classes are going to go, etc. Almost like starting freshman year of college all over again. I did notice that there's a facebook group for UPenn GSE Elementary Education Class of 2009 though -- and the girls look really nice, so here's hoping I'll make some new friends along with learning a lot about how to teach.

Before all that though, I have lots to look forward to. Going to Austin with John over Memorial Day weekend, going to Paris with my parents for two weeks in June, and lots of relaxing time at home in California before coming back and moving in on July 10th.
