(Note: I am blogging from my tech class at Penn GSE -- as an assignment! Wow!)
We took tours of our schools and neighborhoods today. I'm assigned to M School, and I'll be teaching 3rd grade. It seems like a really great community!
Although walking around for three hours in the heat was pretty exhausting, we saw a lot of the area and our tour guide (also a teacher at the school!) was really well informed and interesting. She's been living in the neighborhood for 30 years, raised her kids there, etc. Really knows the neighborhood. It seems like a very diverse area, with some beautiful buildings, great parks, etc. The school is really well funded and well supported, the parents are very involved, and it seems like a wonderful learning community.
I was expecting to be in a school thats is far more underserved than M.... there are lots of great resources, computers, art classes, a newly renovated library and science lab, etc. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this...
